Get More From Your Wedding Site With Squarespace Zola Blocks
What Zola Blocks Actually Do
Zola blocks let you display items from your wedding registry directly on your Squarespace site. Instead of sending guests to a separate website, they can browse and buy gifts without leaving your wedding site.
The setup is straightforward, but there are some quirks you should know about before you start.
How to Set Up Your Zola Block
Add the Block
Go to the page where you want your registry to appear. Click the insert point (+) and select Zola from the block menu.
Enter Your Registry Details
Click the pencil icon to edit the block. You'll need to enter your Registry Name (this is just the bit at the end of your Zola URL).
Choose Your Display Options
Use the slider to pick how many items to show (maximum of 12). If your page background is busy or colourful, tick 'Add Padding' to make the block easier to read.
Save Your Changes
On Squarespace 7.0 sites, click 'Apply' to save. On 7.1 sites, your changes save automatically.
Worth knowing: The block randomly selects which items to display from your full registry. You can't choose specific items to feature.
What Your Guests Will See
When someone visits your registry block, they can hover over items to see details and pricing. Clicking 'Buy Now' takes them to Zola's checkout process.
There's also a link at the top of the block that takes guests to your full registry on Zola's site if they want to browse everything.
The Limitations You Should Know About
The design is completely fixed. You get a standard grid layout with preset colours and fonts. There's no way to customise how it looks beyond choosing how many items to display.
Items appear randomly from your registry. If you have 50 items but only display 12, Zola picks which ones to show and this changes over time.
International Considerations
Zola accepts international credit cards and billing addresses, but they only ship within the US. If you have international guests, they can still buy gifts, but shipping is limited to American addresses.
Quick Troubleshooting
Block not showing items? Double-check your registry name matches exactly what's in your Zola URL.
Items look cramped against your background? Turn on the padding option in the block settings.
Want different items to display? The selection is random and automatic. You can't manually pick which items appear.
Is It Worth Using?
If you're using Zola for your registry, the Squarespace integration works well for what it is. The setup is simple and it keeps guests on your site longer.
The design limitations mean it might not match your site perfectly, but the convenience usually outweighs this. Just make sure your page background doesn't clash with the block's white background and dark text.
Registry Name: The unique part of your Zola registry URL that you use to connect the block to your registry.
