How to Manage Payments in Squarespace

Getting to Your Payment Information

On Desktop

Head to your Squarespace dashboard and open the Finance panel. Click on any transaction to see:
  • Billing and shipping details
  • Full payment breakdown
  • Order status and history

On Mobile (Android and iOS)

Open the Selling panel, tap Finance, then the Payments tab. Tap any transaction to see the details.
What you'll see for each payment:
  • Total amount charged
  • Processing fees
  • Net amount (what you actually receive)
  • Payment method used
  • Last four digits of the card and cardholder name

Filtering Your Transactions

You can sort transactions to find what you need quickly:
By type: Filter by Paid, Failed, Refunds, or Chargebacks By date: Set a date range to see transactions from specific periods
Note: You can't export payment data as CSV or Excel files from Squarespace. This is a current limitation of the platform.

Processing Refunds

Here's how to refund a customer:
  1. Go to Finance panel, then click Orders
  1. Find and select the payment you want to refund
  1. Click 'Refund' in the top-right corner
  1. Enter the refund amount (can be partial or full)
  1. Click 'Issue Refund' to process it
If your account balance can't cover the refund, it goes negative. Squarespace will use future payments to balance this out.

Handling Chargebacks

When a customer disputes a charge with their bank:
  • You're liable for the disputed amount plus fees
  • You can contest it by proving the transaction was legitimate
  • Squarespace will email you with steps if you want to fight the chargeback
The key is having good records of the original transaction and delivery.
Tip: Check your transaction history weekly. Spotting patterns early can help you catch problems before they become bigger issues.

Common Questions

Can I export my transaction data? No, Squarespace doesn't currently support exporting payments as CSV or Excel files.
How long do refunds take to process? Refunds typically take 5-10 business days to appear on the customer's statement, depending on their bank.
What happens if I get too many chargebacks? Too many chargebacks can put your payment processing at risk. Keep good records and respond quickly to customer complaints to avoid them.
